Fun Times at FHE!
For Family Home Evening tonight our lesson was about being a Child of God. We sang I am a Child of God, we had a scripture about being a Child of God, we had a story about being a Child of God, and we spent a couple minutes looking in a mirror talking about how we were all children of God. So at the end of it all while we were eating treats I asked her, "Cortney, are you a child of God?"
Without hesitation she exclaimed "NOOOOOOOOOOO". It was full out raised voice, and full of defiance. Having a two year old is almost too much fun to handle!

Weekend With Family in Rexburg!
Wow...it has been a while since I have had a chance to get on and post. Last weekend we went to up Rexburg Idaho to visit family. The day after we got home Cortney got sick and today is the first day she has been doing better.
Here are some pictures from the weekend:
Ryan had a lot of different TANKS! faces here is one of them:
This is Jakes TANKS! face - it is very similar to my dad's - even down to how their chins come in, and their mouths go slightly to the right:
Another Ryan face: This one didn't have red eyes - it would have been way crazy if it did though
This is his real TANKS! face:
This is Jens TANKS! face - even though she never really played - look in her right hand to see what she was really doing - it is a bowl of cookies and cream cake!
This is when we beat the final level in TANKS! Ryan and Jake did it, and it was the first time it has happened in our family, very exciting, every time we visit we always play TANKS! and like I am writing on the blog we always yell TANKS! and say it in a very exciting way. PS tanks is a game on the wii, from the game wii play
Then Chris and I went on a date with Jen and Chance (it was a blind date my dad set up for her)
This is me and Chris! It was a bonfire, followed by seeing Tangled and then going to Dairy Queen. We were the only married couple there, and it was a late night for us old married people :)
This is Cort playing with Hans under the Foosball table I think she was feeding him carrots
This is the pretty table my Dad made!
This is my parents picture wall - I love looking at this and in the picture you can see Cort looking at it too. We have one picture for every year they were married. My picture wall has 4 pictures so far. Fun tradition!
Jake and Ryan were playing Elmo's song for Cortney, and she loved it!
We also had fun with the fan and Honey Bear...Can you see her stuck? Lets look at a different view down below:
She tried to reach but didn't quite make it. We turned in on and watched Honey fly...
After Honey we decided to throw Ming and Bubba up there too
The reason we went up this weekend is because it was Ryan's first time passing the sacrament. He did a very good job!
This is Cortney "flying" on the stool my dad made
The stool he made is a copy of the one we had growing up. It is on the right below, I remember when I was little this is what I would stand on when I was getting my hair cut from my dad.
Cort loves playing on them with bubba and ming
More TANKS! pictures
All in all we had a really fun time! I love spending time with family!
Here are some pictures from the weekend:
We played TANKS! I got some pictures of the "TANKS! faces"
(PS - ignore the red eyes, we were down in the basement so the lighting was crazy and I haven't had time to go edit the red eye out yet)
Here is Chris: Of course in his lions hat

Brittany!
Brittany came over today! Along with her mom and her daughter Kyleigh. Brittany was one of my best friends while we were living in Oregon. We don't get a chance to see each other very much and it was great to sit down and catch up. Here is a picture:
This is Brittany and me with our little girls! The two girls are actually almost the same age difference as we are. Right now they are living in Portland Oregon while her husband is going through school. She was down visiting her parents in Spainish Fork, and I was very excited that she was able to come up for a short visit today!

Essay By Chris
So we have been going through a lot of things a declutter and we came across this paper that Chris wrote. We are pretty sure it is a middle school essay because there is no way it is a high school one. I laughed for like 10 minutes after I read it especially the conclusion. Here it is word for word, and there are also some pictures of the orginals - his cover page is really nice! I love the misspellings and the made up statistics!
Poems at School
Schools are wondering if poems should be taught or not. Many people hate poems and don't want it taught. Their are many other reasons why people think they shouldn't be taught. Some reasons are, kids forget everything they learned when they are finished, all the paper will be wasted, and it is so much work that students can't finish other homework.
Most students forget the poems right when they are finished working on them. A big reason for causing that problem is the kids set their mind on other projects or work. Ten percent of all students forget the work they had done at school. It would be a waste of time and only boost or drop their grade.
If every school did poems it would waste millions of sheets of paper a year. The world already has enough problems, why start more. If all the trees were chopped off the world would be in trouble. People would be dying or roaming around the streets starting riots.
If kids are absent or forget to do an assignment during the time they were working on poem,s they would be in trouble. They would be behind in all their classes, plus have the work they got that day. Parents would be mad when they found out that their child has failed a ton of classes because they couldn't turn in their work. Students would get grounded then be in a bad mood. Then if on thing goes wrong they would yell and get in trouble. Then the students' parents would find out and the student would be grounded and the same pattern would go over and over again.
Poetry at school will cause students to get in trouble, fail classes, ruin their self-esteem, and kill the environment. Poetry shouldn't be taught at school for those reasons.
End
I love it! I especially like how the teacher gave him a 100 for effort! I bet the teacher was laughing the whole time while reading it, and that is why he got the 100%! I also love how old school the printing job is!
PS - We had a great day today. Yes we totally did not know it was daylight savings and went to church an hour late luckily sacrament is last so we were ok there, but Jen came over for dinner and we all went on a walk to the park that was really fun. We even saw deer randomly walking across the street - right by U of U campus! So random but really cool!

Name That Tune!
This morning I recorded Cortney singing some of her favorite songs. She does not perform on demand so I didn't get all of them. Some of them I didn't catch is "We Will Rock You", "Night Night song", "Ring around the Rosie", and "Blue's Clues".
Play along and leave a comment saying what song she is singing! There are 10 songs in all.

Name That Tune #2
This one is a little tougher if you don't know the movie...it is from a newer Disney movie.
Name That Tune #5
She usually sings this a lot better. The middle part is kind of muffled, but the rest is ok. This is one of those songs I am hoping will rub off on her in a good way!
Name That Tune #8
She doesn't quite make it all the way through this one. It looks like the movie just cuts off but really she just started saying something else, and I just cut it off after she was done singing.

Snow in the Face!
The park where I run has this big tall trees surrounding the walkway - and today they were holding alot of snow. I ran around twice about 3 miles, and during that time a lot of snow feel off of the tree's and onto me! Not once did i get a big piece in the face but 3 different times. Other times I got some on my legs and arms, while it was kind of refreshing it was kind of shockingly cold for the first couple seconds.
Other note worthy things that have happened lately:
Cortney loves saying "Where you going?" Even when I am just sitting down. This morning I was eating breakfast at the table and she ran into the room and said "Momma where you going?" All in all she has to say it at least 20 times a day.
For his grad degree Chris has to either write a thesis or do a project - most people do projects becuase it is easier, and Chris lucked out and got a project that is not only funded but at his work so he can just do the project while working!
Also Covenant Communications sent me an e-mail and said my book is offically in the evaluation process! I'm super excited about this, I put a lot of work into it, I hope they like it!

Oreos, Close the Door, Dirty Viens
Cortney did a ton of cute things yesterday here are just a few:
Oreos
I asked Cortney if she wanted an Oreo and she thought for a minute and then got really excited and said "Yes!" As I started walking to the kitchen she suddenly got really upset, so I just let her take my hand and show me what she wanted. She pulled me into the bathroom and pointed at the Ariel stickers that she gets when she uses the potty. "Ariel!" She said, then she started singing Under the Sea.
I had to laugh. This is probably one of the first times we have ever bought Oreo's in our house, we usually just don't eat a lot of junk food. But I thought surely Aunts, Uncles, Grandmas and Grandpas would have taught her what an Oreo was...I guess not! She has been a very healthy eater lately, When I gave her mini nilla wafers and blue berries for a snack she ate the blue berries, pushed aside the wafers and asked for more blue berries. Also ever since we made oatmeal cookies a couple weeks ago, she has been wanting to eat oatmeal a lot because she thinks it is a treat like the cookies. She used to be a much picker eater, I'm glad she is starting to eat more, and eat well!
Close the Door!
Every day Cortney has quiet time, because she doesn't take naps, and mommy just needs a break so she can get homework done. But she loves it, when she starts getting really cranky I will just put her in her room for about 20 minutes and she comes out as happy as can be. I guess she is like mommy and likes her alone time. Anyway yesterday when I went to get her out of her room I opened the door and stepped inside a little. Cortney looked at me with big eyes and said "Close the door!" So I stepped outside and started closing the door but then she ran over and looked at me and pounded on the floor where she wanted me to stand. So I asked if she wanted me to play and she said "Yes! Let's play!"
So I came back inside but I didn't close the door, Cortney noticed this and quickly ran over and shut the door. I told her that I can play in her room and we didn't have to shut the door. So I opened the door again, which was quickly followed by her shutting it. Then I thought for a minute. When Eve comes to play and I want both of them to stay in the room and play with me, I shut the door so they cannot get out. So I think this was Cortney's way of keeping me in the room with her so I could not get out.
Dirty Veins
Cortney is very particular about having clean hands. She defiantly gets this from her daddy, who likes to wash his hands all the time - ps no complaining here I think it is great! - well yesterday she had her oatmeal for breakfast which left her with sticky hands. Even though she is getting better with the spoon thing, sometimes she gets so impatient she just digs in with both hands. So she had me wash her hands after breakfast and as I was washing them she discovered her veins, I know this because she said "Blue dirty" as she pointed to them.
I told her they were stuck that way, and it was ok. Which probably wasn't the best wording because she started looking a little worried. Luckily daddy hadn't left for school yet, so both mommy and daddy were able to so her their veins and show her it was ok. During the rest of the day I saw her looking at them once in a while, I wonder what she thinks about them...
