Week in the Life...Day 4: Wednesday

Well today started off pretty good!  Woke up at 6:30, had my omelet, and Cortney slept in until almost 8.  I was really excited about this and got a lot done.  I also thought, this is great Cortney got a lot of rest she should be in a great mood today, I couldn't have been more wrong, at least until after quiet time.  Anyway right after she got up in the morning she had to carry 6 little stuffed animals with her but she kept dropping them all the way down the hall.

I don't have many pictures today because it seems like most of it was her screaming and throwing fits.  She doesn't do it often, in fact she is pretty good for the most part.  but every once in a while comes a day where she lets it all out.  My first clue came when Eve came to play, she was very possessive of her toys today, and a couple times they both got in trouble for hitting each other.  Here is a picture that I took right before my battery died...oops that is why I don't have a lot of pictures today.

The big fit she threw was at lunch because all she wanted was milk but I told her she needed to eat something first.  I am talking at least a half hour of screaming her lungs out non stop.  In the end I put her in her room to calm down and when she did she came out and ate lunch, drank her milk and went back in her room for quiet time.

here are a couple pictures I took of her after quiet time when she was feeling a little better.

This first one is when she was watching blues clues.  She calls that little white chair her "thinking chair".  And every time the song comes on when Steve sings about thinking in the thinking chair she has to go sit in it.  Super cute girl!
I ended up getting some good homework done.  It is interesting how certain classes are easier online and others are much harder.  I am finding it hard to teach myself accounting this semester.  I am usually good at math but there are so many little questions I want to ask the teacher and I don't get a chance.  And it doesn't help that out of the 4 people in my group there are only two of us that get the work done, but I the other girl doesn't quite know what she is doing.  So most of the time it is just me.   Luckily the people who don't do anything don't get credit so that is good.

After her quiet time she was a perfect little angel - of course.  Good end to a pretty rough day.  It takes so much out of me when she just screams like that.  But she ate a good amount of dinner, had a bath and is dressed in her bunny pj's
Aunt Jenny bought these for her, which really fits because she calls Cortney her bunny!

Well the first picture below is my school list I made Monday as of tonight the second picture is what it looks like now.

As you can see at one point in time Cortney colored on the right half and the rest is a lot of doddles.  I also really like crossing out things I get done, instead of just drawing a line through the list I scribble it out.  It feels so good to get things done when I have so much to do!  I also do alot  of waiting because I have to wait for things to load online and such so I doodle a lot.  This really isn't too bad yet, just wait until the end of the week once I actually get everything done.

Well every Wednesday Chris has basketball so he leaves around 8:30 or so and doesn't get back until after I am asleep.  So I am writing up the blog while watching Arrested Development.  And after an episode or two I think I am going to get to bed early.

Goodnight!

Week in the Life...Day 3: Tuesday

Ok lots of pictures for today!
Up at 6:30 again this morning and had a pretty normal day until Chris was about ready to leave for school.  Right before he left Cortney suddenly said, "A kiss!  A Daddy kiss!"  It was so cute.  So she ran over to Chris and gave him a big kiss!

After Cortney ate breakfast she went in the living room to watch a show while i finished up the dishes and clean up the kitchen a little when I came out to see her, she had moved the couch pretty far from where is usually is. Not sure how exactly this happened...

This is just another view:

A few days ago I was having a really hard day, sometimes all the stress gets the better of me.  So that day Chris brought me home some tulips to make me feel better.  I think they are beautiful, and they are my favorite flower, here is a top and side view of them.  PS - Chris is such a nice guy! :)

Here is a side view!

 Introducing Eve:
She usually comes over Monday through Friday for about 2 hours in the mornings, then Cortney goes and plays at her house 2 days a week for about 4-5 hours so the mommies can get some school done.  We usually play in Cortney's room most of the time.  Cortney calls her EE and Eve calls her KiKi - it is super cute!

This is Cortney's little bed, she has been sleeping in it since she was about 17 months old.

This is her little quilt.  I found it and wanted it over a year before we were able to buy it.  It took a long time to find one I really liked, and since it took so long to get it, that it makes me like it all the more.

It even came with a little pillow!

Another view of Cort's room

Cortney is playing with her house and Eve is trying to push the baby stroller out of the shut door.

This is the other side of her little doll house.  It was a Christmas Present and she just loves it.  We have been playing with it a lot lately.

About 9:30 we take a break and eat a snack.  today they chose Teddy Grahams, they call them "Bears"

Then we usually color for a little while.  She got some coloring books for her birthday that she loves to color in.

I even color with them everyday...here is the one I did today...

Side note, I spilt some candle wax on our rug last night when I was cleaning up the candles.  anyone know a good way to get it out?

Then we went back into her room and they read some books for a little while.

They also love to put on all the necklaces Cortney has.

Today Cortney went over to Eve's House to play so I got a lot of homework and housework done.  I take the last hour and go run at the park where I meet Michelle to pick Cort up. I usually don't run the whole time, but I have been slowly increasing the amount I run because this year my goal is to run a 10k.

As I was making dinner I turned the stove on and turned the wrong burner on.  I totally burned the box the noodles were in.  Chris is usually the one doing this, in the past he has burned my dish towels and more recently the cutting board.  oh well.  PS - at this point I was still in my workout clothes from when I ran and my hair is kind of a mess.

Cort loves spaghetti!  she always gets very messy.

This is what her face looks like when we pour a cup of water over her head to get the bubbles out.  Chris and I both love this face.

She has a couple toys we save only for when she has a bath.  Here she is playing with Superman.  while playing with him she even sings the superman song!  She told me that the little area he is in, in this picture, is his house.  She also plays ring around the rosy with him in the tub.

After her bath we get her in her PJ's and give her some milk and her honey bear so she can relax before we put her in bed.  I have always liked that she goes to bed with milk and honey every night.  This is Daddy and Cortney snuggling on the couch.

once she is done with her milk we read scriptures say a prayer - and brush her teeth when we remember, oops we forgot tonight.  Then put her in bed.

Which brings me to now.  Chris went back up to campus to get more studying done.  I took a nice hot relaxing bath, very much needed!  Now I am doing the blog.  Once I am done with this I will probably get some more homework done, then relax for about an hour or so before bed.  Chris said he would be home by 10, so we will probably go to sleep around that time.

Goodnight!  Talk to you tomorrow on day 4!

Week in the Life...Day 2: Monday

Well here is day two - a typical - but not so typical Monday. (Note - it is not letting me insert pictures right now, so I will put them in tomorrow)

Up at 6:30 again.  In the morning is when I give myself time to look at facebook and blogs.  I only do this for 20 minutes, so I don't get carried away looking at things.  Sometimes i look at them again at night, but usually not during the day.  So I do this until about 6:50 then make myself breakfast.  I would say all but 1 day for every two weeks I eat the same thing for breakfast.  I love my omelet!  I put tomatoes, mushrooms, green onions, and of course a tiny bit of cheese.  I eat it with a piece of toast.  Something kind of weird about me is that I like my toast plain, I usually do not put butter on it.  So here is my breakfast:

 Mmmmmm...yummy!

After breakfast 1 of 2 things happen.  Cortney is awake in her room so I go get her, or I am able to do some homework before she wakes up.  Today she let me get about 20 minutes of homework done which was nice.  Right when I went into her room she told me she wanted cereal.  And she ate her favorite the Reese's Pieces kind.

This is Cortney looking at the pictures with "Bill" in them.

Then we got ready for the day.  Most days I let her pick what she wants to wear and I think she did pretty good today.  She even picks out what she wants in her hair.  Not sure why she picked yellow, but it is up to her.
Usually Michelle comes to drop Eve off, but she got food poisoning last night so she decided to keep her kids home with her.  So me and Cortney had the morning to ourselves, very rare!  We made banana bread, and watched the Wiggles.  By the way she just started saying "wiggles" really good.  That is a hard one to say, so I was really excited that she got this one down. We also played in her room, mostly with her doll house today.  She loves when I play with the family with her, so we did that for at least 15 minutes.

Cort looking at all the ingredients.  She refuses to sit in a high chair, and has for some time.  Usually when she is coloring or helping me cook she stands like this.  It looks way uncomfortable to me.
She loves to help me mix it.  She says "Mix It!  Mix It!"
But of course becuase she is a toddler she makes messes, but she also does a very good job of helping me clean them up.  Sometimes she even finds places I have missed!

Yummy Yummy!
About 2 hours before lunch Cortney informed me that she wants beans for lunch.  So I cooked up some pinto beans with some spices and mix in some rice, and she just loves it.  She usually eats lunch right after Eve leaves at 11, then we snuggle and watch a show while she drinks her milk.

Cortneys Lunch of Rice and Beans

After Cort goes down for quite time that is when I get to eat lunch and start on the homework.  Got a lot of things checked off my list today, which made me feel much  better.  When it was time to get Cortney out of her room Chris called and said he was coming home early to pick up his backpack and head off to school to study for a test tomorrow.  Since it had been such a nice day I decided we would drop Chris off then go to the zoo, since it is so close.

It was a lot of fun...here are some pictures: (We go to the zoo quite often when it is warm so I didn't take alot of pictures of the animals, more of just Cortney.)

Anytime we go into the Monkey house she loves to climp on the railing like this, usually both feet are in the air.

I think is was her looking at the Gorilla, it is so hard to get a picture of her standing still sometimes!

So she is almost the height of an adult female!  Go Cortney!  One time we came to the zoo with Paul and Jackson when they were visiting and they did this and took pictures, so now everytime when we go to the zoo she has to stand by the wall.
We took this picture up by the tigers - one of Cortneys favorites.  It is a pretty good pictures because we are both smiling, it is too bad her coat got in the way.
We sat here for almost 5 minutes so Cort coule "pet" the tigers.
All in all I think she had a fun time at the zoo!

It started snowing a little so we decided to go home.  We were not home 15 minutes before the power went out and stayed that way for a little over 2 hours.

I had just gotten dinner in the oven when it turned off, so that was a lot of fun.  Cortney was watching the Wiggles when it turned off, I turned it on so I could prepare dinner.  She told me that she wanted to turn it back on and I told her "The wiggles is all gone, we cant watch it right now."  She totally freaked out, poor choice of words on my part.

So we lit some candles so calm her down a little bit.  I told her they were too hot to touch, so Cort started blowing on them to cool them down - cute!  The pictures are a little blurry because I took them without the flash on so you can see how dark it was.

Cortney loved the candles so much.  There were red, yellow, and orange ones and the reds were her favorites, now if there had been blue ones then it would have been a different story.

It got dark pretty fast.
I had Christ bring home some pizza since our dinner was in the oven whent the electricity out and was no where ready to eat.  Cortney loves pizza, she got very excited when I told her daddy was bringing some home with him.
Then after Cortney went to bed we played a candle lit game of uno - which is actually alot harder than it seems.  It is so hard to tell the difference between blue and green.  But we played a couple rounds, then when we decided it was going to be our last one the lights came on. So we finsihed that round and watched a couple episodes of the office before heading to bed.

See you tomorrow!
