Week in the Life...Day 2: Monday

Well here is day two - a typical - but not so typical Monday. (Note - it is not letting me insert pictures right now, so I will put them in tomorrow)

Up at 6:30 again.  In the morning is when I give myself time to look at facebook and blogs.  I only do this for 20 minutes, so I don't get carried away looking at things.  Sometimes i look at them again at night, but usually not during the day.  So I do this until about 6:50 then make myself breakfast.  I would say all but 1 day for every two weeks I eat the same thing for breakfast.  I love my omelet!  I put tomatoes, mushrooms, green onions, and of course a tiny bit of cheese.  I eat it with a piece of toast.  Something kind of weird about me is that I like my toast plain, I usually do not put butter on it.  So here is my breakfast:

 Mmmmmm...yummy!

After breakfast 1 of 2 things happen.  Cortney is awake in her room so I go get her, or I am able to do some homework before she wakes up.  Today she let me get about 20 minutes of homework done which was nice.  Right when I went into her room she told me she wanted cereal.  And she ate her favorite the Reese's Pieces kind.

This is Cortney looking at the pictures with "Bill" in them.

Then we got ready for the day.  Most days I let her pick what she wants to wear and I think she did pretty good today.  She even picks out what she wants in her hair.  Not sure why she picked yellow, but it is up to her.
Usually Michelle comes to drop Eve off, but she got food poisoning last night so she decided to keep her kids home with her.  So me and Cortney had the morning to ourselves, very rare!  We made banana bread, and watched the Wiggles.  By the way she just started saying "wiggles" really good.  That is a hard one to say, so I was really excited that she got this one down. We also played in her room, mostly with her doll house today.  She loves when I play with the family with her, so we did that for at least 15 minutes.

Cort looking at all the ingredients.  She refuses to sit in a high chair, and has for some time.  Usually when she is coloring or helping me cook she stands like this.  It looks way uncomfortable to me.
She loves to help me mix it.  She says "Mix It!  Mix It!"
But of course becuase she is a toddler she makes messes, but she also does a very good job of helping me clean them up.  Sometimes she even finds places I have missed!

Yummy Yummy!
About 2 hours before lunch Cortney informed me that she wants beans for lunch.  So I cooked up some pinto beans with some spices and mix in some rice, and she just loves it.  She usually eats lunch right after Eve leaves at 11, then we snuggle and watch a show while she drinks her milk.

Cortneys Lunch of Rice and Beans

After Cort goes down for quite time that is when I get to eat lunch and start on the homework.  Got a lot of things checked off my list today, which made me feel much  better.  When it was time to get Cortney out of her room Chris called and said he was coming home early to pick up his backpack and head off to school to study for a test tomorrow.  Since it had been such a nice day I decided we would drop Chris off then go to the zoo, since it is so close.

It was a lot of fun...here are some pictures: (We go to the zoo quite often when it is warm so I didn't take alot of pictures of the animals, more of just Cortney.)

Anytime we go into the Monkey house she loves to climp on the railing like this, usually both feet are in the air.

I think is was her looking at the Gorilla, it is so hard to get a picture of her standing still sometimes!

So she is almost the height of an adult female!  Go Cortney!  One time we came to the zoo with Paul and Jackson when they were visiting and they did this and took pictures, so now everytime when we go to the zoo she has to stand by the wall.
We took this picture up by the tigers - one of Cortneys favorites.  It is a pretty good pictures because we are both smiling, it is too bad her coat got in the way.
We sat here for almost 5 minutes so Cort coule "pet" the tigers.
All in all I think she had a fun time at the zoo!

It started snowing a little so we decided to go home.  We were not home 15 minutes before the power went out and stayed that way for a little over 2 hours.

I had just gotten dinner in the oven when it turned off, so that was a lot of fun.  Cortney was watching the Wiggles when it turned off, I turned it on so I could prepare dinner.  She told me that she wanted to turn it back on and I told her "The wiggles is all gone, we cant watch it right now."  She totally freaked out, poor choice of words on my part.

So we lit some candles so calm her down a little bit.  I told her they were too hot to touch, so Cort started blowing on them to cool them down - cute!  The pictures are a little blurry because I took them without the flash on so you can see how dark it was.

Cortney loved the candles so much.  There were red, yellow, and orange ones and the reds were her favorites, now if there had been blue ones then it would have been a different story.

It got dark pretty fast.
I had Christ bring home some pizza since our dinner was in the oven whent the electricity out and was no where ready to eat.  Cortney loves pizza, she got very excited when I told her daddy was bringing some home with him.
Then after Cortney went to bed we played a candle lit game of uno - which is actually alot harder than it seems.  It is so hard to tell the difference between blue and green.  But we played a couple rounds, then when we decided it was going to be our last one the lights came on. So we finsihed that round and watched a couple episodes of the office before heading to bed.

See you tomorrow!

Week in the Life...Day 1: Sunday

This week my sister and I are doing this thing where we take pictures of things we do during the week, I guess to show y'all what our lives are like right now.  So here is my typical Sunday:

Wake up 6:30 am, because I always wake up that early.  There is no way I can be a full time mom, housekeeper and student this semester by sleeping in.  Anyway got a couple things done then went and woke Cortney up.  Lately Cortney cannot eat enough ego waffles.  I'm talking like 3 a day along with everything else she eats.  Anyway that is what she ate for breakfast:
Yes her hair is a little crazy and yes that is a screw driver in her hand.  When she eats waffles I let her walk around, that might be why she likes eating them so much.  Did I mention she knows the difference between a Phillips and a Flathead?  Yup that is my little girl!

Anyway next I get her dressed, which includes brushing her teeth, doing her hair and putting lotion on.  One time she saw me putting lotion on and now she has to do it every time, she loves it!  So today right after she got ready she found a book and brought it to her car to read it:

As you will see, most of my pictures are of Cortney because that is basically my life right now, but I wouldn't have it any other way.  So church went well today, no big news or anything.  Fun fact: Chris rings the bells during our meetings, at which he says he is awesome at.  He says it is mostly due to his bass guitar training.  But I think he just becuase has awesome bell ringing skills.

Church is from 9-12 and Cortney's usual lunch is 11 and her nap / quiet time is 11:30 so by the time we get home she looks like this:

That is honey bear in her mouth, she loves honey bear, and has been sleeping with it since she was about 3 months old, so as you can see it is pretty torn up.  But it is really cute when Cortney is trying to find Honey she runs around saying "Honey, where are you?"  Notice also that one of her pig tails fell out, it happens quite often.

Then we eat lunch, which today happened to be Ramen and Grilled Cheese sandwich.  One of the best cheapest meals for college students like us you could find.  It also happens to be one of Cortney's favorites:

As  you can see from this pictures she uses the fork - but not very well.  Most of the time she picks it up with the fork, then picks it off the fork with her hand and sticks it in her mouth - we are still working on this.  Anyway after lunch she is much happier and looks more like this:
Much happier now!  She has her cup of milk in her hand that she drinks while watching a show then she goes down for nap / quiet time.  Which is mostly quiet time, she has not taken a nap in a very long time, but she sleeps 12 hours straight through the night, so no complaining here.

We don't have cable, and since it was the super bowl Chris went over to his brothers house to watch it with him.  Cortney and I stayed home and ate an early dinner.  Then she had her daily bath and we snuggled up and watched the entire Little Mermaid movie (One of her favorites) before she went to bed.  It was a great night and I love snuggling with my little princess any time I get the chance.

After she went to bed I made my homework list for the week that looks like this:
Each line represents an assignment I have to do for a class.  I looked over them and the ones that take the shortest amount of time is about 20 minutes, while I know at least one of them is going to take more like 3 hours...boo.  But because of all my hard work this semester I will be walking in April with my mom and Jen, then I will only have a 4 classes left to take before I graduate!  This semester has not been easy but I know the hard work will pay off.

The only way I get this much homework done is because of this deal I have with my friend.  Monday-Friday she brings over her daughter, and sometimes her son if he doesn't have preschool for about 2 hours in the mornings so she can go to her class at the U.  Then on Tues/Thurs she takes Cortney for 4 hours, sometimes longer so I can get things done.  It has been working well so far, and I have been able to keep my goal of not doing homework while Cortney is awake and needing my attention.

Well it is almost 10, and I need to wake up at 6:30 so I am going to go to sleep.  Good night and talk to you tomorrow!

Bill...

I just put up some new photos from our Family pictures we took a couple months ago and Cortney loves looking at them.

I decided to ask her,"Who are in the pictures?"

"Daddy!" she says!

"Yeah!  Daddy, who else?"  I asked

"Mommy!"

"Yup, who is the other person in the pictures?"

"Bill"

What?!  Cortney is the only one left in those pictures.   We are not sure who this "Bill" is yet.  We tried to ask her if it was her boyfriend and she said no.  I know i put a lot of these little stories up, but I really want to remember them, and I am not good at keeping a journal so this is the only i have to keep these memories from slipping through the cracks.

I Need a Kiss!

Yesterday Cortney was playing with her little toy family.  she especially loves playing with the Daddy and the "Cortney" doll.  So she was playing with those two - one in each hand, and she made the Cortney go up to the Daddy and say I need a kiss, then she made them kiss.  This just made my hear melt because that is what I say all the time to her.  It is nice to see that she has been paying attention!

I Thought I was not in Rexburg Anymore...

Yesterday was deceivingly cold.  And the wind is going crazy, I hope this doesn't last long.  Every time we go outside though Cortney gives me this little look and says "cold"  while making her whole body shiver, and that is pretty cute.  But from where I stand that is the only good thing about the weather right now.

Jazz Game!

Monday night to celebrate Jenn's birthday we went to a Jazz game on a double date.  It was Chris and I and Jenn and Stewart, and it was alot of fun!

Highlights:

We found out Jimmer was there last night!  Although they put him on the big screen so everyone knew where he was and he was constantly bombarded with people after that.  He was sitting kind of across from us and it didn't look like he was watching the game at all, he was either on a date or with his wife  but everytime we looked over he was talking to her.

The Jazz won, so that was kind of fun.  It was a pretty close game up until the end.  But I used my "uniform" theory to guess the winner of the game and I was right.  They played the Bobcats and they had stripes on their uniforms that I did not like.  So in the first quarter I told Chris the Jazz should win becuase they have  prettier jerseys - and guess who won!

Jenn did her famous seal bark!

There was an usher there who looked like Santa!  He had one of those maroon jackets on so he was wearing red and he had the full out beard and everything, that was pretty cool.

Oh yes and in this picture Chris decided to show us all his bald spot.  Even though I told him it really isn't too bad yet.

Where are you?

For her birthday Cortney got a set of Lego's with these two little people in it.  While my mom was here after the party Cortney and her played a game of hide and seek with them, always asking "where are you?".  Well the other day i was playing wither her in her room and she had her little Lego people in hand, and she said "There you are where are you!"  This leads me to believe that the she believes their names are "where are you."  And that makes me smile!
