I started running a couple months ago and it has been going well! I use the word "run" loosely to mean not walking :) But I am out there getting it done! So about a month ago I went looking for a 5k to run. I found this one that I thought would be fun. It was in a state park, I thought it would be fun to run in the woods. But I didn't think of a couple things first!
First off I didn't think about how allergy season has just started up and I have asthma - which makes it much worse...yeah running in the forest was not the best idea.
Second I did not check the elevation changes...super steep hills and the first mile was almost all uphill. There was one point where there was a downhill slope and I was afraid to run because it was so steep I thought I would fall. And right after that there was an even bigger steeper hill that I had to run up!
But alas, I made it through! Here are some pictures!
Cortney cheering me on right before the finish line!
Still a little red in the face. It was hard but worth it!
Now it is time to improve my PR :)

Cortney's Big Race!
Last Saturday we walked/ran a race to support Cortney's school! She loved it! Here are some pictures of her in action!
She kept running ahead of us and we kept calling her back - I was super sick on Friday so just walking the race on Saturday was almost too much, but she loved it! Looks like I will have a good running buddy when she gets older! Here is her ribbon she "won" for finishing the race!
She is getting so big!
A couple shots of me and Cortney! She wanted to wear a headband in her hair just like I had in mine!
Other family news: I finished a couch 2 5k program I started - it took 9 weeks and I ran 3 times a week! Awesome, I have started it so many times but never finished it, so glad I finally did! Excited for my 5k coming up in about 2 weeks! Grandma Carol and Papi also came to visit which was lots of fun! I feel bad I was so sick on Friday when they were here, and Saturday was so busy with the race and 2 baptisms we went to. But I did snag a couple pictures of them Sunday morning before church! I like how basically Cortney is the only one that looks different in the pictures!
It was fun having them over! They got to see Cortney's school and ballet. We also went to a farmers market, and Chris took his mom out on a date! We also got Garth hooked on Arrested Development! (Side note: super excited about the new season coming out!) And Cortney had a blast having them here, she had them read books to her and play lots of games! It is always wonderful to spend time with family!

I Found Waldo...and Got a Haircut!!
I found Waldo! Because Cortney drew him for me :)
Also, I cut my hair! Finally! I let it grow so long that it was down to my belt! In fact yesterday I was sitting down, with my hand in my lap and was playing with my hair at the same time! It was getting stuck in everything and I couldn't really do much with it!
So I finally got it cut! I cut so much off I was able to do locks of love - which is awesome! It feels so much lighter now! And it is kind of hard to see in this picture but I do have some sweeping bangs on one side - short enough that they barely cannot fit in a pony tail! So much shorter, but I think I really like it!
I didn't do a before and after but if you see where my pointer finger is down by my jeans - that is about where my belt is and that is how long my hair was! Here is to a couple of weeks of using way too much shampoo and conditioner!

Easter Egg Hunts, Airplanes, and Updates!
First off, it is offical folks...we have a skipper! Cortney has learned how to skip, she has been trying to learn for months at ballet and it has finally clicked. Pretty much the cutest thing ever when she skips around, and she does it all the time, I love it!
Next off Annette, my friend here in Medford, tipped us off that there was going to be an Easter Egg hunt this morning. Cortney was super excited to go! It was early - started at 9, freezing, and not well advertised so Cort was loaded with goodies!
Notice the pretty tree in the background! I love spring when everything thing starts blooming!
She got this little rabbit guy that was full of fun little goodies!
Her favorite thing might be the care bear! I had one when I was little that I have given to her. She even sleeps with it sometimes! She was very excited to get one of her own!
The had eggs and candy scattered all over - the bucket even got a little heavy for her!
Next we headed over to see an airplane! Good news for Papa and Uncle Jason - Cortney was a big fan!!!
They have this plane a little past the airport in Medford and you can go inside and check it out! Cort was excited to go!
She loved "flying it"!
This guy is Calvin, Annette's son! And just in case you are wondering, yes he does have a cat named hobbes :) Awesome! He is about 6 months younger than Cortney, but they get along really well! They would fly the plane together and then one of them would shout, "hit the brakes!". They would stop for a couple seconds and then do it all over again!
The other little girl is Calvin's sister, super cut little girl!
They had fun running around the plane after sitting in the cockpit for a while!
They also decided to go outside and "check" the tires.
Cort signed her name to the guest list :)
It was so fun! And just so Papa knows - you can rent out the plane, I guess the scouts had an over night in there one time! Why do I have the feeling if Papa ever comes to visit he would want to spend a night in there?
In terms of other updates, Cort is doing well in school - she is learning her letter sounds well and getting really excited to start reading! We also bought a new big girl bed set of blankets and sheets for Cortney - she has still been sleeping in her toddler bed but is quickly out growing it! Now we just need a bed frame and a mattress to go with it!
Cortney's hair is also getting longer! We were in a hurry to get to the Easter egg hunt this morning, so we just did piggy buns, but most of the time she lets me put it in two braids, and it stays in pretty well! Oh I almost forgot, this is kind of a funny story. Most weekend mornings Cortney plays in her room until we wake up and come get her. This morning I slept in until 8! Mostly because I just didn't hear her playing. When I got up I went to her room to find it empty. So I went downstairs and there she was on her little chair playing with the Ipod. She said, "oh hey mom, just playing a game on the ipod." She is really growing up! She is becoming very independent, and if that helps me sleep in on the weekends a little, I'm all for it!
